Rare Hamilton “Rutledge” men’s Art Deco design presentation wristwatch in solid platinum, circa 1935.

The “Rutledge” was Hamilton’s most expensive men’s watch during the Depression, and was priced at $175.00 in 1935. This example has a very rare black enamel inlaid dial with highly stylized Art Deco numerals, the only known example of this unusual dial variation. The watch is in crisp, excellent condition showing almost no wear, just a few light marks to the brushed finish of the case. Caseback is excellent, with a presentation engraving from 1935, the very first year the "Rutledge" was offered by Hamilton. The case measures 37mm long and 22mm wide. Original dial is very good, with hard inlaid black enamel tracks, numerals, and signature. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 19-jewel Hamilton grade 982 manual wind movement, just serviced and running well.
