Scarce Waltham “Premier Skeleton” men’s Art Deco design pocket watch in 14K yellow gold fill, circa 1937.
The “Skeleton" features a see-through case with exhibition front and back glass crystals to display the Art Deco stylized cut-out numerals and the movement. This model was exhibited at the International Exhibition in Paris in 1937. It was priced at $70.00 in 1937 and has a gold-filled dial and solid gold hands, unusual features for an American watch. This is one of only a few I have seen. It is in crisp, near mint condition with no brassing. The case measures 44mm in diameter. Original dial is very good, with a few age spots. Front and back glass crystals are superb. This watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel Waltham Premier Ruby grade manual wind movement.
