Rare Hamilton “Meadowbrook” men’s Streamline Moderne design wristwatch in solid 14K yellow gold, circa 1929.
Very low production of only 1,471 examples in yellow gold. The “Meadowbrook” bears the distinction of being in the first group of Hamilton men’s wristwatches to be named for something other than the geometric shape of its case. In this case, the “Meadowbrook” was named for an exclusive golf club on Long Island and has a very elegant cushion-shaped bezel set on a gently curved case. The “Meadowbrook” was priced to consumers at $100.00 in 1929. With its sleek case, it looks as modern today as it did when it debuted in 1928. This is the first yellow Meadowbrook I have offered in several years, and perhaps the nicest I have ever offered. It is in crisp, excellent condition showing only the slightest indications of wear. Caseback is superb and unengraved. The case measures 35mm long and 28mm wide. Dial has been beautifully restored to its correct original appearance with a silver Butler finish and Art Deco stylized exploding luminous numerals and matching luminous hands. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its original 19 jewel Hamilton grade 979-F movement.
