Extraordinarily rare Hamilton “Oval Engraved” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in solid two-tone 14K green and white gold, circa 1929.
The “Oval” is uniquely Hamilton and is one of the most sought-after of all American Art Deco design wristwatches. They are virtually unavailable in solid gold, with this two-tone engraved version being the rarest and most desirable of them all. This watch was priced at $87.00 in 1929, and only a handful are known to exist today. This example is in excellent condition, with crisp bezel engravings and showing almost no wear. Caseback is excellent and has an attractive Gothic style monogram. Case numbers match on all pieces, verifying that this is a genuine factory-issued two-tone version. Case measures 38mm long and 29mm wide. Dial has been beautifully refinished to its correct original appearance with a two-tone silver butler and white finish, and aged luminous numerals and hands. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its original 17 jewel Hamilton grade 987 movement.
