Scarce Elgin “Mount Vernon” men’s Streamline Moderne design wristwatch in 14K yellow gold fill, circa 1933.
With its unique center lugs requiring a notched strap, this Elgin bears a striking resemblance to the Hamilton “Mount Vernon.” Indeed, the cases of both models were made by Schwab and Wuischpard. This is only the second example of this model I have offered. It is in excellent condition showing only a light touch of brassing to the highpoints of the bezel and lugs. Caseback is excellent and unengraved. Case measures 38mm long and 22mm wide. Lug bars are new. Dial is excellent and has bronzed colored numerals. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 15 jewel Elgin grade 484 movement.
