Very rare Hamilton “Flintridge” men’s Streamline Moderne design wristwatch in solid 14K white gold with blue enamel, circa 1932.

The “Flintridge” is one of the classic Hamilton rarities and has a spring-loaded lid that opens to reveal the dial when activated by a button in the upper right lug. A mere 142 were produced in 14K white gold with the 979 movement, and they are rarely offered for sale. An extraordinarily expensive wristwatch for the Great Depression, the “Flintridge” was priced to consumers at $150.00 in 1932, plus an extra $8.50 for the enameled monogram. With a case weighing almost 23 grams, it was among Hamilton’s heaviest solid gold watches. This example is in crisp, near mint condition showing virtually no wear, just a few light marks. It is the finest "Flintridge" I have ever seen. The case exhibits all of its original alternating brushed and polished finish. The caseback is superb and unengraved, with all of its factory brushed finish intact. The case measures 40mm long by 28mm wide. Inlaid enamel dial is very good. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 19-jewel Hamilton grade 979-F adjusted movement.
