Very scarce Elgin “Lucien Lelong 108” ladies’ Art Deco design wristwatch in 14K white gold fill with red and blue enamel bezel, circa 1928.
In the 1920s, no other watch manufacturer could match Elgin’s Art Deco designs for ladies’ wristwatches. Elgin retained top designers of international prominence to create some fantastic designs. This “Lucien Lelong 108,” designed obviously by famous Parisian designer Lucien Lelong, has asymmetric designs of alternating red and blue enamel on its bezel. This example is in good condition, with some moderate brassing to the bezel, and a tiny pinpoint ding. Enamel is complete. Caseback is excellent, with a monogram. The case measures 30mm long and 17mm wide. Dial has been beautifully refinished to its correct original appearance with a parchment white finish and black enamel painted numerals. Glass crystal is excellent. This watch is powered by its original 7 jewel Elgin grade 488 movement.
