Very rare Hamilton “Barrel B Engraved” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in 14K green gold fill, circa 1929.
Hamilton made several varieties of wristwatches based on the barrel shape, with this “Barrel B” model being the most elusive version. The green version is very rare and this is one of only a handful I’ve seen. Hamilton records show that a mere 272 were produced in green gold fill. As one of Hamilton’s most stylized Art Deco watches, the “Barrel B” features Southwestern-inspired geometric designs set against a textured background on the bezel, similar to the Illinois “Chieftain.” This example is in excellent condition with only a tiny amount of brassing to the bezel corners. Caseback is excellent and unengraved. Case measures 35mm long and 29mm wide. Original dial is very good. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel Hamilton grade 987-F movement. Has original green crown.
