Elgin “Dante” men’s Retro Modern design automatic wristwatch in stainless steel, circa 1955.
The “Dante” was one of Elgin’s early automatics and was priced at $71.50 in 1955. This example is in excellent condition showing only very light wear, the sides of the case still retain their brushed finish. Caseback is excellent and unengraved. The case measures 38mm long and 29mm wide. Refinished black dial is superb, has a 4-quadrant dial with subtle wave designs. Has new acrylic crystal. Watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel Elgin grade 645 automatic movement.
