Very rare Hamilton “Oakmont” men’s Streamline Moderne design Packard presentation wristwatch in solid 14K white gold, circa 1933.
The “Oakmont” was named for the historic Oakmont Country Club near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and was one of the first Hamilton models chosen by the Packard Motor Car Co. for use as a presentation award for service to the company. The “Oakmont” models purchased by Packard were presented in 1933 and 1934, with only 150 watches produced... this is one of only 2 or 3 known to exist. These were special order watches and were engraved at the Hamilton factory prior to shipment to Packard. This example is in crisp, excellent condition showing only the slightest indications of wear. Caseback is superb and has the appropriate factory-engraved presentation from Packard Motor Car Co. The case measures 38mm long and 27mm wide. Enamel-inlaid dial is excellent, has solid 18K gold applied numerals. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 19 jewel Hamilton grade 979-F movement.(SOLD)
