Scarce Elgin “Diamond & Sapphire Enamel” ladies’ Art Deco design wristwatch in 14K white gold fill with diamonds and synthetic sapphires, and green and black enamel, circa 1928.
In the 1920s, no other watch manufacturer could match Elgin’s Art Deco designs for ladies’ wristwatches. Elgin retained top designers of international prominence to create some fantastic designs. This model has alternating panels of bright green and black enamel, and is set with 2 diamonds and 4 deep-blue synthetic sapphires. This is the first example I have offered of this scarce model. It is in excellent condition with no brassing. Enamel is complete and superb. Caseback is superb and has a beautifully engraved monogram. The case measures 30mm long and 17mm wide. Dial has been beautifully restored to its correct original appearance with a parchment white finish and black numerals. Glass crystal is excellent. This watch is powered by its correct 15 jewel Elgin grade 484 movement.
