Uncommon Hamilton “Seckron” men’s Art Deco design doctor’s wristwatch in 14K yellow gold fill, circa 1938.

The “Seckron” is among the most recognizable and sought-after early Hamilton wristwatch models. Advertised as a professional watch for those needing split-minute precision, it was marketed especially to doctors and nurses. This is the first design variation with a thick stepped case which was introduced in 1935. The “Seckron” uses an unusual variation of the grade 980 movement with a special gear train to drive the hands on the separate dials. It was priced to consumers at $55.00 in 1938. This example is in excellent condition with only a touch of brassing to the bezel corners and lugs. Caseback is excellent and unengraved, with a few specks of wear in the corners. The case measures 39mm long and 22mm wide. Original dial is excellent. Has new glass crystal. Watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel Hamilton grade 980B movement.
