Scarce Elgin “Clubman 163” men’s Streamline Moderne design wristwatch in 14K white gold fill, circa 1931.
This is one of only a handful of examples I have seen of this model, it is very scarce. It has a smooth rectangular case with Machine Age faceted hinged lugs. The design of this watch is also unusual in that the bezel hinges upward to allow the movement to be removed from the caseback. It is in excellent condition with only a minor touch of brassing to the highpoints of the bezel corners. Caseback is superb and unengraved. Case measures 37mm long by 28mm wide. Dial has been beautifully restored to its correct original appearance with a two-tone white and gray finish and gold embossed Roman numerals. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its original 15 jewel Elgin grade 484 movement.
