Scarce Hamilton "Grant" men’s Streamline Moderne design wristwatch in solid sterling silver, circa 1933.
Although the reported production for the model is still considered quite low (only 3,403 watches in sterling), empirical evidence suggests this watch is significantly scarcer than even that figure indicates, since the sterling silver "Grant" is seldom encountered. The "Grant" was catalogued only briefly for a couple of years during the depths of the Great Depression, and priced to consumers at $45.00 in 1933. This example is in excellent condition, showing light wear, and a few marks on the lugs. Caseback is excellent and has a monogram. Case measures 36mm long and 28mm wide. Linen-textured dial has been restored to its correct original appearance with a parchment white finish and solid 18K gold applied numerals. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 17 jewel Hamilton grade 987-F movement.
Price $750.
