Scarce Elgin “Diamond & Sapphire Enamel” ladies’ Art Deco design wristwatch in 14K white gold fill with diamonds and synthetic sapphires, and blue and black enamel, circa 1928.
In the 1920s, no other watch manufacturer could match Elgin’s Art Deco designs for ladies’ wristwatches. Elgin retained top designers of international prominence to create some fantastic designs. This model has alternating panels of blue and black enamel, and is set with 2 diamonds and 4 deep-blue synthetic sapphires. This is the first example I have offered of this scarce model. It is in excellent condition with only a few specks of brassing. Enamel is complete and superb. Caseback is excellent and unegrnaved. The case measures 30mm long and 17mm wide. Dial is very good. Blued steel hands have a touch of corrosion. Glass crystal is excellent. This watch is powered by its correct 15 jewel Elgin grade 484 movement.
