Scarce Hamilton “Square” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in 14K yellow gold fill, circa 1929.
Most examples of the Hamilton “Square” found today are either white gold fill or green gold fill. However, Hamilton did produce 977 examples of the watch in yellow gold fill. It is quite elusive and this is the first I have ever offered. With the applied gold numeral dial, it was priced to consumers at $63.00 in 1929. This example is in crisp, excellent condition showing only a few tiny specks of brassing in the bezel corners. Caseback is excellent and unengraved. The case measures 35mm long and 29mm wide. Two-tone, enamel-inlaid Fluckiger dial is excellent, has solid 18K gold applied numerals. Blued steel hands show some light corrosion. Has new glass crystal. Watch is powered its correct 17 jewel Hamilton grade 987 movement.
