Rare Hamilton “Cushion” men’s Modern design wristwatch in solid 14K white gold, circa 1923.
Seeking a less-bulky men’s wristwatch design, this 6/0-size model of the “Cushion” replaced the earlier and larger 0-size grade 981 “Cushion” around 1922. The earliest examples used the slightly thicker grade 986 movement, which was replaced by this thinner grade 986A movement in May of 1923. It was priced to consumers at $75.00 in 1923, and Hamilton records show that a mere 1,808 were produced. This example is in excellent condition showing only light wear. Caseback is excellent and unengraved. Case measures 35mm long and 27mm wide. Dial has been beautifully restored to its correct original appearance with a silver Butler finish and luminous numerals and hands. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 17 jewel Hamilton grade 986A movement.
