Uncommon Lord Elgin “Chairman” men’s Retro Modern design wristwatch in solid 14K yellow gold, circa 1954.
The “Chairman” is an uncommon watch; this is the first I have offered for sale. It is has a large and heavy faceted gold case (over 15.2 grams gold weight), and accordingly was priced at the top of Elgin’s line at $200.00 in 1954. It is in excellent condition showing only light wear. Caseback is excellent and unengraved. Case measures 36mm long and 23mm wide. Original dial is excellent, with applied gold markers. Has new old stock correct glass crystal with facet to match faceted bezel. The watch is powered by its correct 21-jewel Elgin grade 626 movement.
