Extremely rare Hamilton “Pacermatic” men’s Space Age design automatic wristwatch in two-tone 10K yellow and white gold fill, circa 1961.

Based on the wildly popular Electric “Pacer,” the Pacermatic features the same case style as the “Pacer” but with an automatic movement instead of an electric movement.  It was obviously not popular with consumers who, when attracted to the avant garde styling of the “Pacer,”also wanted the technological innovativeness of the electric movement to go with it.  Consequently, a futuristic watch with an ordinary mechanical movement did not sell well, and perhaps only around 800 were produced, making it extremely rare today.  This example is completely correct with the appropriate case retaining ring, proper dial feet placement, proper grade 667 automatic movement, and case serial number within the range of other known “Pacermatics.”  It is in excellent condition, with no brassing at all, which is highly unusual for this case design.  Caseback is excellent and unengraved.  Case measures 45mm long and 32mm wide. Dial has been beautifully refinished to its correct original appearance with a silver Butler finish and solid 14K gold applied numerals and arrow markers.  Has new acrylic crystal.  This watch is powered by its correct 17 jewel Hamilton grade 667 automatic movement.
