Scarce Gruen “Streamlined Engraved” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in 14K white gold fill, circa 1930.
This Gruen has a sleek elongated tonneau-shaped case with stylized Art Deco engravings on the bezel and case sides. Case designs are inlaid with black highlighting, which Gruen referred to as “antique finished engraving.” An expensive watch in Gruen’s line-up, it was priced to consumers at $55.00 in 1930. This example is in near mint condition with no brassing or wear. Engraved designs are bold and crisp. Caseback is superb and unengraved. The case measures 33mm long and 24mm wide. Dial has been beautifully restored to its correct original appearance with a silver Butler finish and luminous numerals and hands. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 15 jewel Gruen Precision grade 115 movement.
