Very scarce Hamilton “Diane” ladies’ Streamline Moderne design wristwatch in solid 14K white gold, circa 1931.

Unlike most other ladies’ watches of the era which were sold with silk ribbons, the “Diane” was sold with a leather strap and advertised as a sports watch for women.  It is very scarce and this is only the third example I have ever offered.  Its hinged case was handmade and it was priced to consumers at $100.00 in 1931, equal to or greater in price than some of Hamilton‘s solid gold men‘s models.  Indeed, it is a heavy watch and has as much gold content as many men’s watches.  This example is in excellent condition showing only very slight wear.  Caseback is superb and unengraved.  The case measures 32mm long and 17mm wide.  Dial is excellent.  Has new glass crystal.  This watch is powered by its correct 17 jewel Hamilton grade 989 movement.
