Very scarce Hamilton “Lowell” men’s Streamline Moderne design wristwatch in solid 14K yellow gold, circa 1936.

Announced to dealers on May 1, 1935, the “Lowell” was in the very first group of solid gold watches Hamilton offered with the new grade 982 movement in 1935, and was priced to consumers at $90.00.  It has a simple, elegant tank-styled case.  It is very difficult to find and this is the first I have offered in several years, and the finest I have ever seen.  This example is in crisp, near mint condition showing no signs of wear.  Case edges are sharp.  Caseback is superb and unengraved, exhibiting all of its original factory-applied brushed finish.  Underside of bezel also shows its original brushed finish.  The case measures 35mm long and 22mm wide.  Dial has been perfectly restored to its correct original appearance with a parchment white finish and solid 18K gold applied numerals.  Has new glass crystal.  This watch is powered by its original 19 jewel Hamilton grade 982 movement.
