Rare Elgin “Model 229” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in solid 14K white gold, circa 1929.
The “Model 229” has a hinged case with Art Deco line and dot engravings on the bezel and sides of the scalloped case, which was made by Solidarity. It was priced at $57.00 in 1929. It is rare; this is the first I have offered in many years. This example is in excellent condition showing only light wear. Caseback is excellent and unengraved. The case measures 38mm long and 25mm wide. Original dial is very good, has silver inlaid numerals and luminous dots. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 15 jewel Elgin grade 444 movement.
