Scarce Gruen “Tank” men’s Streamline Moderne design wristwatch in solid 14K green gold, circa 1926.
The early version of the “Tank” seems to be one of the scarcest varieties, with a very large curved and hinged case… significantly larger than the “Imperial Tank.” This example is in excellent condition, with only the slightest indications of wear. Caseback is excellent and unengraved. Hinge pin is broken but caseback snaps together crisply. Case measures 42mm long and 27mm wide. Dial has been restored to its correct original appearance with a silver Butler finish and large Art Deco stylized luminous numerals. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 15 jewel Gruen grade 885 movement.
