Scarce Elgin “Thrift 433” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in chromium nickel with black enamel bezel, circa 1931.

The “433 was part of the less-expensive “Thrift” series of watches, and has become one of the classic Art Deco Elgin designs of all time, and highly desirable today. The rarest of the enamel “Thrift” watches, it has a cushion-shaped case with numerals set in four black enamel panels around the dial. It was priced to consumers at $22.50 in 1931. This example is in crisp, near mint condition with no wear or corrosion to the chromium nickel case. Black enamel is complete, with only a few minor flakes. Caseback is superb and unengraved. The case measures 34mm long and 30mm wide. Refinished dial is superb. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 7 jewel Elgin grade 485 movement.
