Extremely rare Hamilton “Gordon” men’s Retro-Modern design presentation wristwatch in solid platinum with diamond dial, circa 1950.
The “Gordon” was only catalogued in solid 18K gold. But a small, unknown quantity of these watches were made in platinum for the Plymouth Oil Company, which developed oil fields in West Texas. It is among the great Hamilton rarities and only a handful are know to exist. This example is in excellent condition , showing only the slightest indications of wear. Caseback is excellent and has the correct presentation engraving from Plymouth Oil Company. Case measures 37mm long and 22mm wide. Original two-tone diamond dial is very good. Has new acrylic crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 19 jewel Hamilton grade 982M gold seal movement.
