Hamilton “Tonneau Engraved” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in 14K white gold fill, circa 1928.
With its large distinctive case and stylized oak leaf engraved designs, the “Tonneau Engraved” is one of the classic Hamilton designs from the 1920s and like nothing else offered by other watch companies at the time. It was priced to consumers at $57.00 in 1928 and Hamilton records indicate that 16,391 were produced. This example is in excellent condition with no brassing. Caseback is excellent and unengraved, with a few small dings. Case measures 34mm long and 27mm wide. Dial has been beautifully restored to its correct original appearance with a two-tone silver Butler and white finish with bold, Art Deco shadowed luminous numerals and hands. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 17 jewel Hamilton grade 987 movement.
