Rare Elgin “Madame Alpha” ladies’ Art Deco design wristwatch in 14K white gold fill with green enamel bezel and original green enamel buckle, circa 1928.
In the 1920s, no other watch manufacturer could match Elgin’s Art Deco designs for ladies’ wristwatches. Elgin retained top designers of international prominence to create some fantastic designs. The “Madame Alpha” has a green enamel framing the dial and a very rare matching green enamel buckle. This is only the second original buckle I’ve seen for this model. This example is in crisp, near mint condition with no wear. Enamel is superb and complete. Caseback is superb, with a monogram. The case measures 30mm long and 17mm wide. Original dial is superb. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 15 jewel Elgin grade 484 movement.
