Rare Hamilton “Meadowbrook” men’s Streamline Moderne design wristwatch in solid 14K white gold, circa 1931.
Very low production of only 2,020 examples in 14k white gold. Perhaps the most urbane and sophisticated watch Hamilton ever produced, the “Meadowbrook” bears the distinction of being in the first group of Hamilton men’s wristwatches to be named for something other than the geometric shape of its case. In this case, the “Meadowbrook” was named for an exclusive golf country club. The watch has a very elegant cushion-shaped bezel set on a gently curved case. The “Meadowbrook” was priced to consumers at $100.00 in 1931... a princely sum for a wristwatch during the Great Depression and few were sold. This example is in excellent condition showing only the slightest indications of wear. Caseback is superb and unengraved. The case measures 35mm long and 28mm wide. Dial has been beautifully restored to its correct original appearance with a silver Butler finish and fantastic Art Deco stylized exploding luminous numerals and luminous hands. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its original 19 jewel Hamilton grade 979-F adjusted movement.
