Very scarce Elgin “Aztec” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in chromium nickel with black inlay bezel, circa 1933.
Elgin catalogued this watch as the “Senior 952,” but its fantastic geometric black-inlaid bezel designs, possibly inspired by the carvings on ancient Aztec temples in Mexico has caused most collectors to dub it the “Aztec.” It is a very difficult watch to find and extremely desirable. This example is in excellent condition showing no wear or pitting. Black enamel is complete and superb. The caseback is superb and unengraved. The case measures 35mm long and 25mm wide. Dial has been beautifully restored to its correct original appearance with a parchment white finish and back painted numerals. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 15 jewel Elgin grade 484 movement.
