Scarce Elgin “Diamond & Sapphire Enamel” ladies’ Art Deco design wristwatch in 14K white gold fill with diamonds and sapphires, and green and black enamel, circa 1928.
In the 1920s, no other watch manufacturer could match Elgin’s Art Deco designs for ladies’ wristwatches. Elgin retained top designers of international prominence to create some fantastic designs. This model has a rim of bright green enamel and a diamond-shaped dial surrounded by black geometric black enamel, as well as two small diamonds and four synthetic blue sapphires. This is the first example I have offered of this scarce model. It is in excellent condition with no brassing. Enamel is complete and superb. Caseback is superb and unengraved. The case measures 30mm long and 17mm wide. Dial has been beautifully restored to its correct original appearance with a silver Butler finish. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 7 jewel Elgin grade 488 movement.
