Very rare Gruen “Cartouche Orne” ladies’ Art Deco design wristwatch in solid 14K white gold with blue, green, and yellow enamel, circa 1929.
The watches in Gruen’s “Orne” series demonstrate the epitome of Art Deco design, with the watches usually featuring several colors of enamel. All of the “Orne” watches are quite rare and this is the only example I have ever seen of this particular model. It has Art Deco geometric designs inlaid with blue, green, and yellow enamel. It is in excellent condition showing only the slightest indications of wear. Enamel is superb and complete. Caseback is superb and unengraved. The case measures 25m long and 16mm wide. Original two-tone silver Butler dial is excellent. This watch is powered by a 15 jewel Gruen Guild grade 833 movement.
