Rare Hamilton “Palisade” men’s Streamline Moderne design wristwatch in 14K white gold fill, circa 1931.
The “Palisade” was the first Hamilton men’s wristwatch to be catalogued with an attached metal bracelet instead of a leather strap. This is only the second example I have ever seen with the original and correct matching gold filled bracelet. The “Palisade” was quite expensive for the Great Depression, priced to consumers at $65.00 in 1931, and with just 2,465 watches produced in white gold fill, it is an extremely difficult watch to find today; and even more so with the correct metal bracelet. This example is in excellent condition with just a minor touch of brassing to the tips of the lugs. Caseback is excellent and unengraved, with some light wear along the lip from being opened. Case measures 34mm long and 30mm wide. Original dial is crisp and spectacular. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 17 jewel Hamilton grade 987-F movement.
