Scarce Elgin “Aztec” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in nickel, circa 1932.
Elgin catalogued this watch as the “Senior 952,” but its fantastic geometric black-inlaid bezel designs reminiscent of the carvings on ancient Aztec temples in Mexico has caused most collectors to dub it the “Aztec.” It is a very difficult watch to find and among the most desirable of all Art Deco Elgin wristwatches. This example is in excellent condition showing only very light wear. The caseback is very good and unengraved, with some light scratches. The case measures 35mm long and 25mm wide. Refinished dial is superb. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 7 jewel Elgin grade 488 movement.
