Rare Elgin “Streamline Diamond Dial” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in two-tone solid 14K rose and white gold.
This watch has a rose gold case with white gold ribs on the bezel. Although Elgin did offer a diamond dial watch in the 1930s, the case of this example is not marked Elgin and may be a so-called “contract case” similar to the diamond dial Hamiltons from the same period. Nonetheless, it is a stunning wristwatch, and features Elgin’s top-of-the-line 17 jewel 18/0 size movement reserved for its solid gold and platinum cased gentlemen’s watches. It is in excellent condition showing only very slight wear, plus a few dings to the lugs. Caseback is excellent and unengraved. Case measures 43mm long and 21mm wide. Dial has been nicely restored with a two-tone copper and silver finish with diamond inlaid numerals. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by a 17 jewel Elgin grade 483 movement.
