Very rare Hamilton “Barrel Engraved” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in solid 14K green gold with original strap and box, circa 1928.
One of the outstanding rarities in early Hamilton models, the solid gold “Barrel Engraved” is virtually unattainable in any condition, let alone with its original strap and box. A mere 422 examples were produced and sold over its production run from 1927 to 1931. Priced at $87.00 when new, it was simply out of reach of all but the most affluent consumers at the time. This is the first solid green “Barrel Engraved” I have ever offered for sale and one of only four I have ever seen... it is that rare. This example is in crisp, excellent condition showing only the slightest indications of wear. Caseback is excellent and unengraved. Case measures 35mm long and 28mm wide. Dial has a pleasing patina from age. Has original green gold filled crown. Has new glass crystal. Watch is powered by its correct 17 jewel Hamilton grade 987 movement. Original brown pigskin Hamilton strap is very good, accompanying solid 14K yellow gold buckle is unsigned. Original dark blue Hamilton box is excellent.
