Very rare Hamilton “Oakmont” men’s Streamline Moderne design wristwatch in solid 14K yellow gold, circa 1931.
One of the classic Hamilton rarities from the 1930s, a mere 431 examples of the yellow gold “Oakmont” were produced… this is the first I have ever offered for sale. Simple and understated, the “Oakmont” is a extremely elegant and distinctive wristwatch, and was named for the historic Oakmont Country Club near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania… one of the nation’s premier golf clubs. It was priced to consumers at $90.00 in 1933. This example is in excellent condition showing only the slightest indications of wear. Caseback is excellent and unengraved, with a few light dings. The case measures 38mm long and 28mm wide. Dial is excellent and has inlaid enamel tracks and solid 18K gold applied numerals. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its original 19 jewel Hamilton grade 979-F movement.
