Very rare Illinois “Marquis” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in reverse two-tone 14K green and white gold fill, circa 1928.
Any two-tone “Marquis” is quite scarce, but examples with a white case body and green bezel and back such as this one are very rare. Most examples of the two-tone “Marquis” have green case bodies and white bezels and backs. This is the only example of the reverse two-tone “Marquis” I have ever offered for sale. Serial numbers match on all 3 case pieces. This one is in good condition, with just a little light brassing to the bezel. A few specks of brassing to the tips of the lugs, and the lugs show a little wear from being fitted with a metal band. Caseback is fair and unengraved, with some wear and dents, as well as some repair work evident on the inside. The case measures 39mm long and 29mm wide. Dial has been beautifully restored to its correct original appearance with a two-tone silver Butler and parchment white finish and luminous numerals and hands. Has new crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 15 jewel Illinois grade 903 movement.
