Very rare Waltham “Masonic” men’s Retro Moderne design triangular wristwatch in green gold fill with stainless steel caseback.
The most sought-after of all Waltham wristwatches, this highly unusual Masonic model is quite rare; this is the only example I have ever owned. Somewhere in time, the original Swiss Waltham movement and hands have been replaced by a Bulova movement and hands, which happen to fit perfectly. The few other examples I have seen of this rare watch have been yellow gold fill, this one is definitely a striking green gold fill. The mother of pearl dial features polychrome elements from various Masonic rites at each hour position, and the case has the unbroken chain of Brotherly Love around the bezel and the traditional “G” within the Masonic Square and Compass, painstakingly inlaid with blue enamel paint by myself. This example is in excellent condition showing only light brassing to the top lug above the square and compass. Remainder of case is crisp and unbrassed. Caseback is excellent and unengraved. This is a large wristwatch, measuring 49mm long and 40mm wide. Original mother of pearl dial shows typical crazing, but is otherwise excellent. Shows flashes of green and pink iridescence when turned in the light. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by a 17 jewel Bulova grade 7AM movement.
